The event was a BIG success as nearly 200 Bigs (mentors) and supporters consorted and danced to the captivating music of Detroit’s own HotSauce and the KDJ Jazz Trio, a phenomenal Detroit-based youth jazz trio. Guests had the opportunity to bid on valuable auction items and have their cocktail of choice served by celebrity bartenders who graciously volunteered their time to support the
BBBSMD mission. Featured celebrity bartenders included City of Detroit, First Lady, Yvette Bing, Al Allen, Amy Andrews and Anqunette Jamison of Fox 2 News, Diana Lewis of WXYZ Channel 7, Rochelle Riley, Renowned Columnist and Writer, Keith Washington of 105.9 Kiss-FM, Craig Fahle from WDET 101.9, John Mason of AM 1200-WCHB and Detroit Pistons Announcer, N. Charles Anderson of the Detroit Urban League, Eddie Lee of the Detroit Young Professionals, and Jacqueline Northrop, Founder of Scarlet Communications.
In addition to the tantalizing ambiance, guests were exposed to the true mission and vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit as Dara Munson, President and CEO, and Michael Smith, Board Chairman, gave eminent remarks speaking to the value and
positive effects BBBSMD mentoring programs have had on youth in Metro Detroit.
