Taking it as his personal responsibility in working with his agency colleagues across the country to ensure that Big Brothers Big Sisters of America continues to make great strides toward achieving indisputable impact on the lives of children through our proven staff-supported, long-term mentoring model, long-time Big Brother and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America President and CEO, T. Charles Pierson visited with us here in Detroit. While in Motown, Charles visited with BBBSMD staff, board members, advisory board members, funders and members of the statewide BBBS Michigan Alliance.

T. Charles Pierson joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) as President and CEO in June 2012. Prior to assuming this national role, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate in the country. During his visit Charles shared his vision on where we were going nationally and stressed that our priorities will remain on child safety and the quality of our matches.

Our impact on education through mentoring was also a topic of discussion. Pierson commented that “We make a huge impact in education through mentoring.” In 2012, BBBSMD saw a graduation rate of 93% marking the third year in a row our graduation rate was over 90 percent.

We’d like to thank Charles for his vision and ongoing leadership to ensure that the lives of children facing adversity are changed for the better, forever through mentoring.
